BRITISH BELIZEAN ATHLETE KATY SEALY beat competitors from Guatemala and Nicaragua to the gold meal in Women's Heptathlon at the Central American Games in Nicaragua.
Sealy scored 4,614 to 4,361 for Ruth Merida of Guatemala and 3,599 for Nicaragua’s Maria Briceño.
Sealy also holds the new national record for javelin throw and was a bronze medalist in shotput. She is now preparing for August’s Pan American Games in Toronto and the North/Central American and Caribbean Games in Costa Rica thereafter.
Other Belizeans participating in the games and winning some medals are Brandon Jones, Mark Anderson, Linsford Avila, Kenneth Brackett, James Bregal, Ajahnie Requeña, Card Hance, Raheem Arzu, Benjamin Fairweather, Alexander Alvarado, Ernest Villafranco, Kaina Martinez, Shanicka Augustine, Alexia Neal, Ashontie Carr, Ashantie Carr and Tricia Flores, competing in various categories.
